How To Love Mondays
Posted on June 20 2016
Monday gets such a bad rap! Instead of dreading Mondays and feeling the need to drink coffee through an IV on a Monday, a shift in perspective of Monday can do wonders for the first day of the work week. For many of us Monday is when we "go back to the grind" and Sunday evenings bring on feelings of anxiety. How can we change this?
Firstly, let's look at Monday in a whole new light. It is the first day of the week where we get to press the reset button and set new goals. Write down your goals for the week but make them realistic. Instead of "lose 2 pounds" how about "yoga two times"? Mondays are also a great day to make plans with friends for the week. Getting together with friends for an endorphin-filled gathering is part of what nourishes our soul. New beginnings are exciting and we just need to look at Monday as an opportunity for a fresh start.
Be happy with what you do or find a way to find what makes you happy so that Mondays are full of achievements that fuel your passion. If you are one of the lucky ones that love what you do already, Mondays are like all days; another day to feel the joy of doing what you enjoy. If you are not in a situation where you love your environment or your work, look at Monday as the day to begin the search with gusto towards finding your true happy place and passion.
Be good to yourself and reward yourself for your achievements and every day, not just Monday becomes a joy. Treating myself to my favorite tonics, walking with my dog and practicing yoga makes me happy. Yes they are very simple things but it is really the simple things that truly feeds our spirit. So if Mondays are hard, shift your perspective and treat yourself for this new attitude.
Attitude plays a big part on how we react to life. When stressful situations arise, learn to breathe, step back, assess the situation and work towards a solution. It seems logical and yet we humans find it hard to do sometimes. Life is certainly not always butterflies and rainbows, that much we know, but attitude and perspective can change the quality of your life. So embrace Monday and every day and take charge of your happiness.
